/Project brief

/My contribution

"How 2 kick off" is a gamified survey system based on football language. It is designed for people on probation to be more open and honest with measurement and for probation officers to better collect and analyze the wellbeing of people on probation on a regular basis. It eventually helps Catch22 make better report for Ministry of Justice and gain more funding.

I organised two stakeholder workshops with service users from InHouse Records to gain more insights. I also performed field research by visiting Catch22 and conducting user interviews. I also analysed information structure and created wireframes, and contributed to UI design.

/Catch22 Feedback

There was range and a welcome sense of creative divergence to how you and your team generated creative solutions. This was evidenced by the different types of ideas you had

/User Journey

/Problem Statement

Catch22 faces challenges in accurately measuring the wellbeing of their users, as users are often reluctant to open up.

This makes it difficult to compile a comprehensive report for the Ministry of Justice.

/Co-design workshop at Royal college of Art

Due to limited participation from Catch22 users, we invited service users from InHouse Records and conducted two joint workshops. During these sessions, we listened to their experiences and stories to understand their pain points and deep needs. We also presented prototypes for feedback and refined our design. Photography was permitted.

/Field research at Catch22 hub

We took part in the probation service and interviewed probation officers for more insights. Photography was permitted,

/Our Idea:

Developing a cultural-language-based game to measure and improve service user‘s wellbeing.

/Service Flow

/Low-fidelity

/High-fidelity

Service users no longer takes the measurement as a burden, but as a way to be a football player. They match with their teammates based on personality tests, and chat to each other online for a week.

When the probation course finishes and it’s time to do the measurement. the two of them kick off as a team. They fill in the questionnaire first and then guess each other’s answers based on the connections they built.

/Our new service has better measuring timing and method

/Usability testing and development

/Postive Feedback:

  • Half of the testers’ reported that the second questionnaire completion would make them more aware of their own.

  • Competition mechanism encourages them to listen to their buddy more carefully in order to getting higher scores. This increases the motivation of the testers to participate in the questionnaire.

/Development:

Some SU do not use smart phone, and practitioners prefer using physical tools.
